During his teaching and sporting career, David
has met and associated with many different characters both in the city and outback areas of South Australia and the Northern Territory. Now, as a full time author, he draws inspiration for his writings from these characters. For instance, his first
young adult novel, ‘Forest Spirit’, resulted largely from his work as a school principal in the Northern Territory where he mixed with cattle station owners, station workers’, bush policemen, Chinese shopkeepers and other local folk.
He also came to know and teach Aboriginal people, both tribal and town dwelling.
from the Education Department, David now devotes his time to writing. As a keen sportsman, he played football and cricket for Port Adelaide and has since coached several country football sides. As a Level 2 Bowls Coach, he was also the Tasmanian State
coach for the under 18 lawn bowls side.
